- The course is designed as a compulsory optional in the PhD study programme of Social Education.

- Course objectives
- The course objective is to analyze the human psyche in the context of educational activities. Emphasis is placed on thorough acquisition and critical evaluation of a partial topic in the field of social psychology, which is related to the creation of a dissertation and the overlap into non-academic practice.
- Learning outcomes
- The PhD students will be able to: - define terms of Social Psychology in relation to their application in Social Education; - explain theoretical and methodological background of Social Psychology in the framework of dissertation; - design an experiment to explain problematic issues of social behavior in educational reality, - predict the behavior of people in small and large social groups, - apply the acquired knowledge in the interdisciplinary overlap of the social sciences, - assess the benefits of studying Social Psychology for their own studies (Social Education) and for their dissertation.

- 1. Characteristics of the field of social psychology. Problems of social psychology research. Social cognition as one of the key topics of the field. Different approaches to social psychology. 2. Theoretical principles of social cognition, theory of social identity, theory of social representations, discursive psychology. 3. Attitudes and their social significance in the educational context. 4. Attribution processes and their significance in the educational context. 5. Self and identity. Socio-cognitivist approaches to self and identity. 6. Prejudices, stereotypes and social perceptions in the school environment. 7. Ideology, social identity and social cognition in the process of education. 8. Individual and social aspects in research. Experiments in social psychology.
