- Course objectives
- The objectives of the course are: Understanding mental health - explaining the basic concepts and meaning of mental well-being Preventing mental illness - recognising the warning signs Open communication about mental health - removing stigmas and encouraging peer support Developing emotional intelligence - the ability to manage emotions, empathy and social skills in school Developing stress and crisis management - basic relaxation techniques, mindfulness, resilience in the school environment
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course: - knows the psychological issues of some of the most common mental illnesses - is able to work professionally in a multidisciplinary team including physicians, psychologists and other professionals - is familiar with the psychological characteristics of people with mental disabilities and is able to respond to them appropriately -know the background and circumstances for interpreting differences in a person's psychological functions, especially their possible implications in a social context.

- 1. Norm and the concept of norm, otherness, disability, disability, mental illness
- 2. Trends and changes in terminology, mental health as a continuum, otherness as part of a continuum versus norm and pathology
- 3. Quality of life for people with difference, experience and layers of difference, starting points for an inclusive society and education
- 4. Self-perception and self-concept of people with difference
- 5. Causes of mental illness, inheritance of psychological traits and environmental influences, factors in the development of disability
- 6. Mental disorders (basic overview)
- 7. The family of the child with injury, the child as "patient"
- 8. Somatic illness as a psychological problem, experience of illness, psychosomatics
- 9. Trends in mental health and wellbeing
- 10. Self-care, mental health and wellbeing support, working with emotions
- 11. Neurodiversity, neurodivergence
