Course objectives
The objective of the course is to present an overview of certified providers of programmes aimed at primary prevention of risk behaviour. The students will understand the basic concepts in the area of prevention with a focus on the current issues as defined by the curriculum. On the basis of the knowledge acquired, the students will be able to interpret primary prevention and risk behaviour data. The partial goal of the course is also to repeat the main topics of health education in the context of current events and knowledge.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to: - Formulate the current problems in the area human health, health protection and promotion, primary prevention and risk behaviour with an emphasis on nutrition and eating disorders, communicable and non-communicable diseases, psycho-social health and human protection in emergency situations; - Review their own knowledge, understand the significance of lifelong self-education and high-quality teaching; - Understand the importance of prevention and school as significant factors affecting the health of an individual and the entire population; - Actively search for new information and perform a critical analysis of such information.

  • Content of seminars: 1. Nutrition and eating disorders. 2. Communicable and non-communicable diseases. 3. Psycho-social health. 4. Human protection in emergency situations. 5. Other current topics of health education.

Teaching methods
The course is delivered in the form of seminars. The students will discuss various topics as per the course syllabus.
Assessment methods
The students will demonstrate their knowledge of the issue and produce a seminar paper on a selected topic.
