Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with the topics related to the present family and how to work with the family and to get a preview of this issue and to apply them in their profession.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to: understand and explain the importance of family education in educational context; apply to information about education in collaboration between the family and kindergarten; submit justified (reasoned thought out, rational) decisions in dealing with the influence of family environment on child development; interpret the strategy of Family Education; to know the current situation of the family and its social specifics.
Syllabus
  • Basic Terminological Foundations for the Theory of Family Education (family, marriage, characteristics of family, functions of family, internal and external forces of marital cohesion, developmental stages of the family). Biological foundations of parenting and partnership behavior, cultural influences shaping the family, family network and family concept as social reality. Modern Challenges for the Family. Position of the child, man, and woman in the family, both historically and in the present. The significance of the family environment for the development of the child’s personality, internal and external conditions of family education. Cultural-pedagogical factors of the family environment and their influence on child upbringing (value orientation, parents' education, parents' readiness for child-rearing). Parents and family members as educators. Specific features of the educational role of the father, mother, siblings, and grandparents. Collaboration between kindergartens and families. Conducting interviews with parents.
