- Course objectives
- Main objectives: Complete presentation of OTC drugs and consulting activity of pharmacy staff. Lectures are given by interactive workshops, dealing with solution of actual problems, searching medical databases, selection of proper OTC drugs and prevention of interaction and overuse of drugs
- Learning outcomes
- The student will get an overview of registered over-the-counter drugs. Gains orientation in OTC drugs. He will be able to practice rational counseling in self-medication.
- Syllabus
- Lectures:
1. Basic terminology ? treating at home, switching, legislation, trends
Milk-based nutrition for babies
2. Respiratory tract illnesses, common cold and influenza
3. Treatment of pain, analgesics, antipyretics
Treatment of locomotive organs, disorders of the venous system
4. Skin diseases, skin injuries, disinfection
Urogenital disorders
5. Digestive tract diseases
Vitamins and minerals, osteoporosis
6. Allergies, eye illnesses, drugs affecting CNS.
Seminars:
1. Respiratory tract illnesses
2. Analgesics, pain, locomotive organs
3. Digestive tract diseases
4. Skin diseases, Urogenital disorders
5. Allergies, drugs affecting CNS
6. Urogenital disorders.
