- Course objectives
- The subject named "Instrumental analytical methods in the pharmaceutical technology" is dealing with modern instrumental methods useful in the field of the pharmaceutical technology, development and industry. The main aim of this subject is to create a comprehensive overview of methods used for the evaluation, analysis and quality control of pharmaceutical dosage forms. Main topics: Near and middle infrared spectroscopy, dissolution tests and drug content analysis (UV/VIS spectrophotometry, HPLC), light and electron microscopy, laser diffraction analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, thermal analysis. The theoretical principles of selected methods are discussed and their practical applications are demonstrated.

SYLABUS OF LABORATORY PRACTISE
1.-3. FT-NIR (analysis of model samples, evaluation of spectra by chemometric methods).
4.-6. Optimization of chromatographic conditions, dissolution test of dosage form, chromatographic determination of active compound content.
7.-8. Light microscopy - image analysis (analysis of model sample, e.g. pellets, microparticles, powders).
9. Evaluation of DSC, TGA a XRPD spectra. Calculations.
10. Evaluation of effects of processing factors on dissolution profile.
11.-13. Excursion to the laboratory of scanning electron microscopy.
