- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Safety and Quality of Drugs (programme FaF, D-BKL) (2)
- Course objectives
- By mastering methods and techniques of solid phase analysis and follow-up case studies, the student should have a solid base for solving real problems that can occur during the life cycle management in the pharmaceutical practice.
- Syllabus
- Solid State Analysis - is the latest pharmaceutical analysis discipline without which it would not be possible to determine the parameters of drug substances and, above all, solid pharmaceutical forms. Selection of the optimum solid form is a critical aspect of the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished solid dosage forms.
According to the principles of analytical techniques, attention is paid to spectral methods (near and middle infrared spectroscopy in the setup of DRIFT or ATR, SS NMR, etc.), diffraction methods (powder X-ray diffraction, laser diffraction, dynamic light scattering, Raman scattering), thermal methods (DSC, TGA, TSC), microscopic methods (optical microscopy and image analysis, electron microscopy) and surface study methods (porosimetry, IGC and DVS).
