Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course - the aim of the subject is to combine knowledge from the field of pharmacology with the awareness of the context of drug use in the population. An essential prerequisite is the acquisition of basic terminology in the field of epidemiology. The knowledge of pharmacovigilance is also part of the subject. The subject is primarily intended for DSP students practicing at the hospital departments of clinical pharmacy.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge of basic epidemiological concepts and methods. Knowledge of tools to evaluate the consumption of drugs. Knowledge of designing pharmacoepidemiological studies. Awareness of their limits. Knowledge of pharmacovigilance tools. Ability to critically assess the therapeutic benefits / risk of a drug in the context of defined population.

  • Information sources and database systems in pharmacoepidemiology Distribution of pharmacoepidemiological studies. Systematic overview, meta-analysis. Cohort study, case and control study, cross-sectional study ... Critical evaluation of a published study, correct interpretation of results Ensuring patient safety in healthcare facilities (accreditation, internal and external audits and evaluation of healthcare, quality indicators, standards) Pharmacovigilance and reporting of side effects and adverse reactions
