- Course objectives
- The purpose of this course is for the students to: A) discern the variety of speaking styles in English; B) cultivate their own spoken English to match their purposes at the Academia and elsewhere.
- Learning outcomes
- On copleting the course, a student will expand his/her ability to present a speech in public, both prepared and impromptu. They will be able to carry out a project in writing, rehearsing and performing a comic sketch.
- Syllabus
- The course's content is largely dependent on the students' own initiatives, however, always runs in three lines of activity: 1 an election of the most admired members of the teaching staff in two categories, native and non-native speakers of English; the two winners are the course's last session's guests and are asked how they attained their speaking mastership; 2 students' own presentations on interesting aspects of spoken English in the Academia; 3 writing, rehearsing and public performance of a 20-minute comic skit.
