- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with chances to discuss and reflect on situations/ topics that they may be encountering/ encounter during their teaching practice in the classroom to support the transformation of the experiences into learning opportunities and help them make reflective practice an integral part of their professional career. Reflection is realized in written and oral form, independently and in groups.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, a student will be able to: 1. Analyse, evaluate and reflect on their lesson planning and classroom practice and identify key their strengths and areas for improvement in their teaching. 2. Give and receive constructive feedback. 3. Employ reflective practice and their own and with their colleagues.
- Syllabus
- Introduction Setting professional development aims for the semester. Preparing written reflections for the reflective diary; bringing some of them into the class when required. Video analysis and action plan. Sharing a useful activity from TP with colleagues Observation and feedback from university teacher Group reflections in class
- Teaching methods
- Written reflection, spoken reflection, individual and group reflection, video reflection
- Assessment methods
- For the successful completion of the course, students are required to: 1. Attend classes (1 absence) and participate actively. 2. Upload their professional development aims for the semester by the date specified in ELF. 3. Bring written reflections in the class when required. 4. Present a video analysis and action plan. 5. Invite Nikki, Linda or Jitka to come and see them once during the semester before the date specified in ELF. (preferably a tandem lesson with your colleague). For those doing practice outside of Brno, this is substituted with a video recording from class. 6. Submit all the documents for TP and do a wrap-up talk with Nikki, Linda or Jitka.
