- Course objectives
- In the course the phonology and morphology of Finnish is presented. The aim of the course is to learn to describe studied language (Finnish) using linguistic terms and methods and to gain some knowledge of different approaches to the descriptions of Finnish morphology.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course students are familiar with basic phonological and morphological notions and are able to use them in the description of Finnish phonology and morphology. Students should be able to describe main features of Finnish phonological inventary, be familiar with types of morphophonological alternations in Finnish and describe morphological structure of words. Students should also be aware of different possibilities in the approach to Finnish morphology and understand the differences between them. Students are ready to use the acquired knowledge also in their practical study of the language.
