Course objectives
Students receive the list of works of fiction relating to the recent history of Finland and Scandinavia (from the beginning of the 18th century until the beginning of the 21st century). Then, they must read two books (in any language) and make excerpts following the instructions.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to understand better and explain the main literary issues of the development of the newer Scandinavian literature, as well as they will practice literary interpretation and Academic writing skills.
Syllabus
  • Cf. the list at the course BA_18. The students can read other books, but their choice must be discussed beforehand with the teacher.
Teaching methods
Reading, essay writing.
Assessment methods
Self-study course (reading), students may consult the works with the teacher. The course closes with the written report on min. 2 Finnish/Scandinavian books.
