Course objectives
The lessons of Croatian/Serbian, deepening and spreading the vocabulary (specific terms and frequent phrases), emphasis on active use of language (exercises in developing of achieved level of Croatian/Serbian including translation exercises). At the end of the course students should be able to speak and write in contemporary Serbian/Croatian language. At the end of this course students should be able to describe new grammar phenomena acquired in this semester and use the knowledge in spoken and written interaction. By the means of acquiring new vocabulary and grammar they can create text or speak about related topics. Students are able to understand written text and interpret it.

  • Spreading vocabulary, lexical exercises (synonyms, antonyms, idioms), text translations of different functional styles, practicing declension system, conjugations.

Teaching methods
Serbian: Seminars, 1½ hours per week, plus half an hour tutorials to be arranged individually with students. Croatian: Seminars 4 hours per week (gramatical, lexical and conversation exercises, discussion, translation).
Assessment methods
Serbian: Conditions for the final test: - A maximum of 3 absences, all homework 20%, translated from Czech to Serbian 1 page A4 text (the term for translations - the last lesson in November)30%. Test: - The test consists two parts, grammar and lexicology. In order to pass the test a student must have 70% of each exercise correct)50%. Croatian: Conditions for the final test: Maximum of 3 absences, all essays, presentations. The final exam is written. It consists of gramatical and lexical part. To pass the test student must have 70% of test done.
