- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to introduce the students to the theoretical concepts of the Slavic area during the Early Modern period, and to the most prominent texts of the period. The concept of the course uses the approaches of literary history and theory (the focus being on individual topics). The general approach in the course shall be comparative. The main topics are further specified in the course's syllabus.
- Learning outcomes
- The course outputs shall be:
- to provide an understanding of the concepts of Baroque texts of the European Slavonic area;
- to define specific of the texts of the European Slavonic area;
- to use the information on Baroque texts of the European area, and on certain theoretical concepts;
- to write a paper with an explication of at least one of the literary texts of Baroque poetics, or a comparison of two academic texts on the subject. - Syllabus

- 3. Spanish Baroque: Teresa de Avila; Juan de la Cruz.
- 4. Italian Baroque: Torquato Tasso.
- 5. English Baroque: John Donne; John Milton.
- 6. German Baroque: Andreas Gryphius; Friedrich von Spee; Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen.
- 7. Croatian Baroque: Ivan Dživo Gundulić; Ivan Mažuranič. 8. Polish Baroque: Jan Andrzej Morstyn.
- 9. Russian and Ukrainian Baroque:- Simeon Polockij; Hryhorij Skovoroda.
