Course objectives
The course aims to develop Masaryk University students' information literacy so they can transfer the acquired knowledge, skills and attitudes into their study practice. It responds to the high academic failure rate, which has many factors, but one of them may be underdeveloped information literacy.
The course is based on UNESCO's MIL (Media and Information Literacy) model, which describes five areas that a person in an information society must have developed if we are to consider their information literacy.
We aim to adapt each area so that individual trainees are not only successful learners but can transfer these skills to other areas of human life - so that they can seek, evaluate and organise information and themselves ethically participate in its production.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

Teaching methods
The course is primarily online, supplemented by seminars with discussion and practice opportunities and the option to use subject-specific meetings in the parent libraries of individual departments.
Students will create five assignments (for each subject area) that will be graded by each other and discussed together. At the end of the course, there is a test to verify that they have taken away not only practical skills (assignments) but also the appropriate theoretical foundations for information literacy and information science.
Assessment methods
You are expected to complete assignments (5 times during the semester), provide feedback, and pass the test. Working and learning in the home faculty library of individual students and reflecting on this activity is also encouraged.
Language of instruction
Czech
