Course objectives
The course focuses on the role of dog and elephant in ancient times. The aim of the course is to introduce students to this topic.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- look objectively at the role of dog and elephant in antiquity objectively,
- describe the role and importance of these animals to the world of that time,
- understand the relationship between animals and ordinary and famous persons in history,
- understand some specialist terms,
- understand the rules of ancient disciplines and games,
- orientate in the primary sources and specialist literature dealing with this topic.
Syllabus
  • 1-6) The role of elephant in antiquity (mainly military role).
  • 7-11) The role of dog and wolf in antiquity (military role, hunting, dog in common life, culture and art).
  • 12) The role of cat in antiquity (uncertain bonus lesson).
Teaching methods
E-Learning, online course.
Assessment methods
Each lesson will end with a practice (optional) test. The overall ending will be done with a final online test (questions will be made up of questions from the practice tests and inserted materials). The test can be taken anytime after the course and anywhere on a computer via Elf.
