- Course objectives
- The seminar focuses on preparing students for proper asking and answering research questions both while preparing a research project and within certain paradigms of film science research.
For these purposes, the students will be provided with proper methodological tools. They will test the usefulness of the tools in the process of a "test research".
Objectives of the course is to provide differentiation and specialization of teaching, practice of formulation and implementation of research projects, improvement and extension of students’ competences, preparation for implementation of stylistically, heuristically and analytically satisfactory graduate work. - Learning outcomes
- After finishing this course, students will have been able to:
- consider the methodological complexity and specificity of research topics from various areas of film history,
- be familiar with basic theoretical and methodological literature to the presented research areas,
- prepare a research project on of the discussed fiels - Syllabus
- Students will be acquainted with the broader portfolio of research approaches:
- 1) cultural history of cinema,
- 2) economic history of cinema
- 3) history of film style
- 4) history of reception
- 5) production studies
- 6) star studies
- 7) digital humanities.
- These areas of research will be introduced in turn by the educators who focus on them. In doing so, the teaching will be done in individual research combinations of lecture and discussion of assigned texts. At the end of the semester, students will prepare a proposal for the application of their chosen method, based on methodological training and assigned readings, which will become the basis for discussion during the exam period.
- This will increase the ability of students to formulate and work efficiently to solve the research problem, extend their methodological competence and help standardize the level of academic writing when formulating research intentions and outputs.

- Teaching methods
- 1) Lecture: theoretical preparation in the form of methodological preparation
2) Home study of prescribed literature
3) Seminar: discussion of the literature, assignement of a trial research realized with the help of methodological tools and in accordance with required parameters
4) Home preparation of the assigned project
5) Consultation of the task in consultation hours
Seminar work will be carried out within a limited number of seminar groups, which strengthens the didactic effect, as it allows the teacher to focus on the specific problems faced by individual students. - Assessment methods

(a) orientace v existující literatuře k tématu,
(b) schopnost kritického uvažování nad probíranou látkou,
