Course objectives
The course focuses on the problems of the history of cinema from the technological perspective. The course wil discuss the history o cinema from its beginnings to nowadays, technical development will be explained within the esthetic, industrial and socioeconomical context. Beside theoretical approaches the course will discuss specific case of introduction of new technologies and their further influence on cinema (formats, sound, colour, television etc.).
Learning outcomes
After finishing the course students will gain knowledge about the technological film history. They will be able to apply presented analytical approaches.

  • theoretical-methodological approaches
  • principles of film projection
  • film material and its characteristics
  • tinting, toning and colour cinema
  • synchronization of image and sound
  • widescreen formats
  • TV broadcasting
  • homevideo, VOD
