Course objectives
The seminar will be focused on reading, and contextual, semantic, ideological, as well as linguistic analysis of selected texts written by Czech film critics, especially since 1945.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will be able to:
- understand importance of domestic film criticism for development of Czech cinema
- distinguish various historical periods in connection with film criticism and history of Czech cinema
- analyse film reviews and other film critical texts
- understand thinking and argumentation of important Czech film critics
