- Course objectives
- Methods and various approaches towards musical analysis with the focus on the preclassical music repertoire.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to: 1) identify and explain main approaches of musical analysis 2) define individual periods regarding structure of the musical language 3) analyse vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental music 4) explicate texts from chosen treatises on music theory

- Assessment methods
- The final assessment for this course will consist of an oral exam (graded by Dr. Dlask and Prof. Perutková). To prepare, please choose one of the compositions provided in the IS study materials and create a PowerPoint presentation. You must submit this presentation to the designated folder in the IS system no later than 3 days prior to your scheduled exam time. To be eligible for the exam, you must submit the following semester assignment: a practice translation of a vocal text into Czech. The assigned piece will be either a song or an aria. Your translation must demonstrate correct declamation.
