- Course objectives
- We propose a monographic path "The charm of Elena Ferrante". The course aims to introduce students to the work of Elena Ferrante, a world-famous contemporary writer, and part of the criticism that has developed around the author's work. Particular attention will be paid to the strategies associated with the following themes: autobiography, genre of biofiction, seriality, “smarginatura”. We will investigate the reasons that made the writer's work famous, placing the accent on Neapolitan Tetralogy, and we will try to trace the possible causes of “ferrantemania” or “ferrante fever” which occurred among Ferrante's readers.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be aware of the works of the author in question, will receive the basis for further analysis of the literary text and will be able to communicate some strategies of the author or reasons that make her work popular.
- Syllabus
- Chapters chosen from texts produced by the writer, as well as passages from secondary literature, will be read and discussed in class. Students will receive and will be able to reflect on some methodological materials (on the themes of autofiction, seriality etc.) in connection with the writer.

A presentation, to be prepared in PowerPoint, on the author's chosen book will also be mandatory.
