Course objectives
The seminar develops skills and puts language structures into practice starting from the level achieved by students in previous courses. The objective to be achieved is the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Students will also prepare some of the topics planned for the final exam.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student understands the key points of familiar topics concerning school, leisure, etc. He knows how to move with ease in situations that can arise while traveling in the country whose language he speaks. He is able to produce a simple text related to topics that are familiar or of personal interest. He is able to express experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, and also to briefly explain the reasons for his views and plans.

  • Skills. How to: give instructions; collaborate; request information.
  • Lexicon. Do-it-yourself and moving.
  • Grammar. Combined pronouns, indefinite pronouns and adjectives; verbal prefixation.

  • Skills. How to: understand the instructions, give step-by-step instructions.
  • Lexicon. Sustainable development, cooking.
  • Grammar. Structures that demand subordinate clauses with the subjunctive, the impersonal SI, the partitive NE.

  • V ~ + VI WEEK
  • Skills. How to: describe objects; make and propose hypotheses.
  • Lexicon. Adjectives that can be used in descriptions.
  • Grammar. Periphrastic expressions of the incoative phase of the action; other cases of subordinate clauses in the subjunctive.

  • VII + VIII WEEK
  • Skills. How to: tell past events; describe moods; compare data.
  • Lexicon. Families of today; adverbs of time.
  • Grammar. Aspects of the concordance of the tenses; relative pronouns; causal subordinates.

  • IX + X WEEK
  • Skills. To advise or discourage; to clarify; to report other people's speeches.
  • Lexicon. Care for the body and the psyche.
  • Grammar. Hypothetical phrases with the apodosis to the future.

  • Skills. How to express emotions and react with empathy.
  • Lexicon. Emotions and empathy.
  • Grammar. Choice of the auxiliary in the compound tenses of servile verbs; use of the anterior future; CI and LO in anaphora.

  • REVIEW. Each week, part of the exercises carried out by the students at home will be devoted to the revision of the morphology. In case students find it difficult to do some, the teacher will create space to repeat the topic in class.

Teaching methods
The seminar is based on active communication.
Students can at any time propose changes to the planned program.
Assessment methods
Attendance is compulsory.
Students will deliver three essays (100-180 words)and three translations (140-180 words), in addition they will present one of the topics in the exam list in class.
The course is concluded with a online written test (successful for almost 70 %) and an online oral exam.
