- Course objectives
- The course is focused on a specific target group of social work and social service and one of the course aims is to combine knowledge in the areas of social work, social politics and pedagogy so as it could be applied in a practical perspective. The general concept and methods of work with teenagers are set into a wider context of juvenile criminality and possibilities of its educative treatment (e.g. system of at-risk youth care, influence of social environment on teenagers, prediction and prevention of criminal behaviour). The course is enhanced by solving casuistic cases.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able to:
- analyze the conditions for working with youth in various types of social services and the judiciary;
- select appropriate approaches and methods for working with a given target group, considering the resocialization of the individual and the broader societal context;
- reflect on the choice of approach, selection of methods, and forms of work with the target group in accordance with current legislation and the ethics of social work;
- create a youth work project where students demonstrate the ability to integrate the specifics of social work and pedagogical work in the context of social policy in the Czech Republic;
- present the created project and argue the individual elements of the project based on findings from research studies. - Syllabus
