- Educational Theory
The course consists of three parts aimed to introduce students to the educational sciences. The first part will take place at the beginning of the semester as a two-day seminar (separately for students of Pedagogy and students of Social Pedagogy and Counseling - exact data and other information are available on the website of the Institute of Educational Sciences since June). Attendance at this part is compulsory. The aim of this part is to acquaint students with the Institute of Educational Sciences and its employees, to understand the requirements of university studies, to orientate oneself in the possibilities offered by the Faculty of Arts (library services, team study rooms, technology, and information system). The second and third parts take the form of regular weekly classes according to the schedule. The second part is focused mainly on acquiring the key professional skills that students will use for the further study (orientation in pedagogical disciplines, work with scholar literature, educational terminology, understanding the principles of empirical research). Acquisition of skills and knowledge is tested by a test, which is part of the final exam. The third part of the course leads to an understanding of the basic concepts of pedagogy as a science of education: goals, content, factors, and principles of education and their relationships. The second and third part consists of lectures and compulsory reading of texts for each topic available in ELF. - Learning outcomes
