Course objectives
Reading from the works of Brazilian authors who deal with the issue of indigenous people. Work with selected texts, comments, analyzes, historical and social contextualization. Independent reading, preparation of papers and discussion are expected.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to analyze literary works from different periods of Brazilian history and view the problem of the indigenous population from different perspectives.

  • the image of the Indian in the first chronicles
  • Indian as a national hero in the works of romantic authors
  • transformation of the Indian figure in modernist texts
  • the issue of natives in the works of contemporary authors
