- Course objectives
- Clinical psychology gives the students opportunity to build up thesaurus of knowledges about a human being in health and illness, about a human being with dysbalance and dysfunction. All these facts in the context of prevention, prophylaxis and therapy. The basic clinical psychological paradigma are: dysfunction - abnormity - pathology health - deficit - illness prophylaxis - prevention - intervention sanogenesis - integration - self-realization. After completing the course, students will be able to be oriented in all of the above areas, know all relevant terminology and be aware of relevant overlaps to other applied science disciplines. Students will also gain an understanding of the scope and conditions of a career in clinical psychology and the key ethical and legal implications of the psychological profession.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students will be able to navigate the relevant terminology and framework topics of clinical psychology and critically evaluate different approaches to human health and illness. At the same time, students will be able to apply basic ethical and legal aspects in a relevant way in the field.

- 1. Introduction to clinical psychology - definition, history; clinical psychologist, competence, education, ... 2. Diagnostic methods and research in clinical psychology 3. Ethics in clinical psychology 4. Legal aspects of clinical psychology 5. The relationship between doctor and patient, patient and doctor 6. Illness/disorder and health, normality, significance of illness; technical terminology and basic concepts 7. Communication in healthcare (specific situations and specific groups of patients) 8. Problems of pain 9. Trauma, posttraumatic development 10. Burnout syndrome 11. Workholism; chronic fatigue syndrome 12. Work with people in the terminal stage 13. Introduction to psychosomatics
