- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
The capacity limit for the course is 20 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 2/20, only registered: 0/20 - fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Psychology (programme FF, N-PSYCH_)
- Course objectives
- The course focuses on expanding knowledge and deepening understanding of the nature of inferential statistics, including its practical use in hypothesis testing.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the student will understand the nature of inferential statistics, will know statistical misconceptions and errors to avoid in his/her research, and will be able to use them in the critical evaluation of other research. They will be able to adequately and correctly state and test hypotheses and understand the most important statistical concepts.
- Syllabus
- Introduction to inferential statistics, statistical software, problems of today's psychology (replication crisis, data manipulation, p-hacking, ...)
- Logic of hypothesis testing, scientific and methodological thinking, approaches to testing hypotheses
- Explanation of basic concepts of frequentist and Bayesian statistics (p-value, confidence intervals, effect sizes, type 1 and type 2 error, Bayes factors, ...)
- Null hypothesis support, equivalence testing
- Data transformation, outlier analysis, working with outliers
- Cross-cultural research statistics (confirmatory factor analysis, multi-group confirmatory factor analysis, measurement invariance, response bias) Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
