- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to design and craft processes in the creation of interactive multimedia works, especially digital games. This involves mastering the specifics: general non-linearity, thinking about the composition and the sound space as events and the interconnectedness of the sound design with other components of the work (visual, game, experiential, narrative, etc.). The course will focus on both the actual implementation of sound objects within a multidimensional virtual space, as well as different approaches to working with music within an interactive work and other sub-components of the sound system (ambients, voice over, etc.). As part of individual project consultations, students' design and artistic competences will also be developed. The course is practical and will be project-based. The goal is for students to be able to independently implement their proposed solution within the available tools. During the course, the Unity game engine will be used, extended by the FMOD sound engine.
- Learning outcomes
- • the ability to design a solution for the sound component of a game or other interactive media
• the ability to implement the proposed solution using appropriate tools
• the ability to design and implement the structure of a sound project in the FMOD engine
• students will be able to navigate the Unity game engine
• students know the specifics of sound design for various camera genres (2D, fps, 3rd person, orthographic), game genres (action, rpg, building, casual) and platforms (PC, console, VR, mobile) - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- The course will be taught in a form of computer exercises, which will also include an introductory theoretical part. As part of the exercises, students work on projects, which they subsequently expand into a final project as part of independent work.
- Assessment methods
- The output of the course is a project showcasing the acquired skills. Students work on this project both in class and independently. The end of the course will be a joint presentation, discussion and subsequent evaluation of these projects.
