- Course objectives
- A general definition of stylistics says that this discipline investigates principles on which texts are built. Another point examined by stylistics is the influence of various factors on creating texts - the degree of formality, the aim of the text, the addressee etc. Manifestations of these factors in texts are very important also for translators. To reach the adequcy of translation, fully qualified translators should be aware of stylistics values of the particular means of expression with regard to both the source and target languages. This seminar focuses on the basic theoretical facts concerning Czech stylistics and on their practical application.
