- Course objectives
- Or "Who's Afraid of Tom Wolfe?" This seminar raises for translators of literature on all levels questions of the legitimacy/desirability/permissibility/inevitability/etc. (you choose) of nostrification/localization of the text, and examines some of the mechanisms by which it is achieved, intentionally or otherwise. In the process it challenges the role of the translator as being in loco parentis towards the author's brainchild and questions the laudability of the achievements of the "neat" or mot juste school of translation.
