Course objectives (in Czech)
Lingvistická a sociolingvistická interpretace anglicky psaných novinových textů různé provenience má za úkol chrakterizovat specifickou strukturu jazyka v tomto druhu komunikace. Především novinový titulek a jeho konativní funkce, grafické uspořádání textu, slovní zásoba (terminologie, slovotvorba) a gramatická struktura mediálního jazyka jsou podrobeny systematické analýze. Pozornost je věnována také nelingvistickým prostředkům (vizuální dimenze) v symbióze s lingvistickými.
Syllabus
  • The course deals with the interpretation of basic notions of newspaper language such as the headline, text organization (columns and paragraphs), graphic means, advertisements etc. Syntactic structure, choice of vocabulary and cohesion are interpreted with regard to the referential and conative functions of newspaper reporting.
