- Course objectives
- This course offers an introduction to various fields of film and cinematography, as well as to a basic organization of film studies. However, as every introduction is marked, this course will consciously follow one theoretical approach, i.e. that of the Wisconsin School of Neoformalism and Cognitivism, as it is presented by David Bordwell and Kristine Thompson in their book Film Art. For a very general survey of the basic paradigms in film studies we will also use the book by a Polish film theoretician Alicja Helman, Przedmiot i metody filmoznawstwa. Proceeding exam: a written test. Literature: David Bordwell a Kristine Thompsonová: Film Art: An Introduction (McGraw-Hill, 1990); Alicja Helman: Przedmiot i metody filmoznawstwa (Łódź, 1985).
