The students must know the primary literature that was studied in the courses and lectures. It is supposed the students visited PHK1104 History of Philosophy I - Antiquity a PHK1202 History of Philosophy II - Antiquity, Middle Ages - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- The course and lecture are focused to the meeting the history of philosophical ideas about the history and society from the ancient philosophy till Hegel's times. The students will also familiarize themselves with the basic terms that are necessary for the study of this topic, like the state, the nation, the society, the ideology, etc. The lectures will be given to the deeper information about the basic works that are related to the discussed times.

- 1. The ancient social philosophy: the sophists, Plato, Aristotle
- 2. Hellenism: Polybius, Epicureanism, Stoicism, the beginnings of the Christianity - Aurelius Augustinus
- 3. The Middle Ages understanding of the society. The relationship of the profane and sacral powers. St Thomas Aquinas
- 4. Renaissance and the Reformation. Utopia, Machiavelli, Grotius, Bodin, Luther, Calvinus
- 5. The social contract in XVII. and XVIII. cent.
- 6. Enlightenment and its concept of history and society
- 7. The history and society in the German classical philosophy
- 8. The main terms of the social philosophy: state, ideology, democracy, liberalism

- Ústní zkouška. Předpokladem je vypracování referátu zadaného na počátku semestru.
