Course objectives
Semantics will be introduced as a science which deals with an empirical investigation of human ability to understand words and utterances of natural language. Focus will be placed on compositional analysis.
Syllabus
  • Semantics - (generative) lexicon - truth - meaning and structure - predication - proper names - pronouns - quantification - definite descriptions - anaphora - events, states, times.
