- The course follows the history of the English language from the earliest stages of Indo-European, Primitive Germanic and West Germanic, via the Old, Middle, and New English periods to Modern English. The phonological, grammatical, and lexical developments are discussed in their mutual relationships. Assessment is based on the result of a final test.
