Course objectives
The end of the 90s signifies in German-speaking Drama a generational change: a resounding group of directors as Dieter Dorn, Peter Zadek, Klaus Peymann or Peter Stein is going to be alternate by the new generation of directors as Thomas Ostermeier a Sasha Waltz (Berliner Schaubühne), Tom Kühnel and Frank Schuster (Theater am Turm), Andreas Kriegenburg (Burgtheater, Thalia Theater) or Stefan Bachmann (Basel). Together with the mentioned directors reach the German-speaking stages a new group of dramatic authors as Marius von Mayenburg, Theresia Walser, Oliver Bukowski, Albert Ostermeier, Dea Loher, Roland Schimmelpfennig and many others. The texts of the remarked authors contradict the traditional patterns. In the course we will try to follow in the form of a seminar the tendentions of the German-speaking drama (BRD, Switzerland, Austria), the models of the new drama and also relevantly their reception on Czech stages.
