Course objectives
The development of the culture of the Thracians, from the beginnings in the Neolithic to the end of Classcial antiquity. The focus of interest is mainly the Thracian civilisation and art from the beginnings of the EIron Age to the Hellenistci period. Besides archaeology, history, religion and other aspectes of Thracian civilisation are also discussed.
Syllabus
  • Prehistoric Thrace, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age,Thracian religion, Thracian tribes, Archaic period in Thrace and the rise of the Odrysian kingdom, Greek colonisation in Thrace, Thracian neighhours, Classical period of Thrace, Celtic invasions, Hellenistic period, Thracians outside Thrace, Thracians in Asua Minor, Bithynians, Thracians under Roman rule, The Thracian heritage.
