- The lecture provides an overwiew of the Latin literary production in Europe from the late antiquity to the high Middle Ages.
- Syllabus
- The most important genres of medieval Latin literature and their development; Specific features of the medieval literature; Relationship between Latin literature and arising national literatures; Preconditions of literary development in the late Roman times; Overview of the Latin patristics; So called interim period in different parts of Europe; 9th-10th century - Carolingian Renaissance and Ottonian Renaissance; 11th century - beginning of the medieval Latin literatures blossoming; 12th century - Golden Age of the medieval Latin literature, "humanism" of the 12th century; 13th and 14th century - Literature of the late high Middle Ages, indications of the Renaissance and Humanism

- Závěrečné hodnocení formou kolokvia po odevzdání domácí písemné práce. Je vyžadován obecný přehled o latinské literatuře středověké Evropy. Uchazeč si pro závěrečnu písemnou domácí práci o rozsahu cca 8 stran zvolí libovolného autora, podá o něm základní informaci a komentovaný překlad ukázky z jeho díla.

General note: Předmět je povinný pro studenty latinské medievistiky, pro studenty klasické filologie volitelný.
Information on course enrolment limitations: Předmět je určen studentům magisterského cyklu, ve výjimečných případadech jej lze po dohodě s vyučujícím zapsat semestr před složením státní bakalářské zkoušky.
