První semestr je věnován teoretickým otázkám provozu současného umění a otázkám aktuálního uměleckého dění (provoz umění, umělecký trh, pojem moderny a postmoderny, interpretace, prezentace a zprostředkování umění, muzea umění a galerie, úloha státních i soukromých galerií, umění v reflexi sdělovacích prostředků, úloha mezinárodních přehlídek, ceny a ocenění, úloha uměleckých skupin v českém umění) Semestr je zakončen testem.
