- Course objectives
- The course explains the role of language in advertising and the symbiosis of aspects influenc-ing the process of advertising (psychological, legal, ethical, economic etc.). Contextual approach to language study is the central issue in the analysis of different types of advertise-ments. Literature: Thomas, J., Meaning in Interaction. Longman 1995.
- Syllabus
- The study of specific discourse genres is not be complete without a thorough anylysis of the language of advertising, which in contemporary linguistics represents a pereferred field of investigation, mainly in diploma and dissertation topics. Advertising in different channels of communication (spoken on TV and on the radio, printed in newspapers, magazines and leaflets) is the area of interest which is closely linked with the conative function of language and persuasive strategies.
