- Course objectives
- The course introduces students to the history of lacemaking techniques and their terminology. Special attention is given to the manufacture and use of bobbin lace in Bohemia and Moravia and some other European countries, such as Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal, Spain and England. Students will also be introduced to basic technologies of individual lacemaking techniques, and the latest information on the trade with, and spreading of, lace products over Europe. Attention is also given to the identification of lace in traditional clothing of rural communities in Bohemia and Moravia.
