- Course objectives
- Lecture is devoted to life and work of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen and to analysis of his representative works. Attention is further concentrated on his influence on German and world literature.
- Syllabus
- Norway and the development of Norwegian literature in 19th century. Ibsens life and world outlook. Main phases in his work and analysis of his most important dramas. Comparison with B.Björnson, A.Strindberg and F.Hebbel. Ibsens influence in Germany, especially on G.Hauptmann. His role in England (G.B.Shaw) and America (A.Miller). Ibsens reception in Czech culture and translations into Czech.
