Course objectives
The course purpose: to acquaint students with a historical material on onomastics and to show, how is important onomastics for linguistics and historical disciplines. The course maintenance: the basic problems of onomastics, i.e. sciences about own names. Parts of onomastics - toponymics, antroponimics etc. History of separate names and names.
Syllabus
  • 1.Russian onomastics. 2.Antroponimics. Russian name, a patronymic, a surname. A etymology and development. 3. A pseudonym. Names of literary heroes. 4.Toponimics. Names of the rivers. The basic models of names. 5. Names of cities. 6. History of separate names of streets, places in Moscow, Petersburg. 7. Names of not Slavonic origin in territory of Russia and the former USSR. 8.Zoonimics. 9. Names of plants.
