Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following:
understanding of the basic terminology of the philosophy of art
knowledge of philosophical conceptions of art
knowledge of key sources and capacity of their interpretion
familiarization of selected problems of philosophy of art

  • 1. Introduction to the philosophy of art
  • 2. Historical part (reading nad interpretation of sources):
  • (i) Antique tradition
  • (ii) Enlightenment
  • (iii) Romanticism
  • (iv) 2Oth century
  • 3. Theoretical part (methodology and selected chapters):
  • (i) cosmology and art
  • (ii) classification and types of the art
  • (iii) theories and techniques of the art
  • (iv) roles and functions of the art
