- Course objectives
- The main purpose of the course is to bring to the students a deeper theoretical understanding and practical mastery of the Italian syntax. The course is a continuation of the Normative Grammar of Italian, dedicated mainly to the Italian morphology. The course focuses above all on the chapters concerning the basic constituents of the sentence, the use of verbal tenses and modes etc. The studied phenomena are illustrated by original texts.
- Syllabus
- Familiarization with the necessary terminology. Syntagm. Types of sentences: possible criteria for their classification. The constituents of a sentence. Complex and compound sentences. The types of subordinate clauses. The functional sentence perspective. The Italian word order compared to Czech. Specific features of the Italian syntax and the problems of translation.
