- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide basic orientation in both theoretical and practical problems of history of music before early 15th century and to create the qualification for analytical and critical work with sources, repertory, expert literature and sounding music.

- 2) Liturgical and paraliturgical monody
- 3) Secular monody
- 4) Origins and early stage of polyphony, Ars antiqua
- 5) Ars nova
- 6) Music theory of middle-ages

- 80% attendance. Oral exam: orientation in music history, periodisation, knowledge of main genres, forms and types - cultural and philosophical contexts - most significant names - sources and present state of research, literature, main editions
