- Course objectives
- Students will learn about the history and development of interpreting and look at the various categories of interpreters and their activities. Extra-linguistic aspects, such as physical, moral and personal qualities of interpreters will be tackled. The process of interpreting will be analysed and various kinds of interpreting described. The theoretical part will be supplemented by hands-on involvement of students who will learn the basic skills required. These include summarizing, training the memory, both long-term and short-term, clear and concise delivery as well as the ability to speak in public.
