- Introduction into European painting of the 17th and 18th centuries.
- Syllabus
- 1. Major specialisations, themes and concepts of the baroque painting: frescos, altar and easel paintings, preliminary works, ephemeral decorations, concettismo, theory of decorum, illusionism.
- 2. Trident council and his importance for the baroque painting.
- 3. Social background of the baroque art:
- education and social position of the painters; painter and patron of arts.
- 4. Introduction into the oeuvre of Caravaggio, brothers Carracci, Diego Velásquéz, Nicolas Poussin, P. P. Rubens, Rembrandt, Karel Škréta, Joachim von Sandrart, Franz Anton Maulbertsch and others.
