Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand the most important problems from the area of syntax and semantics of noun phrases. Students will be able to actively apply methods of formal syntax and semantics to data from Slavonic but also other Indoeuropean languages. Students will acquire insights into current theories of formal semantics and generative grammar.
Syllabus
  • This course is all about noun phrases, their syntax and semantics. Methods: generative grammar and formal semantics. Keywords: constituent structure of NP, semantics of proper names and predicates, indexicals, reference.
