- Course objectives
- Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to get an acquaintance with the trends of Czech proses after 1989;
to get an acquaintance with poetics of space by Tartu school (Lotman, Toporov) and Daniela Hodrová;
to get an acquaintance with Michail M. Bachtin’s theory of chronotopes;
to use this new knowledge to analyze proses of authors who describe the city as a symbol of the present world, space of memories or a contrast of to other fantastical city; - Syllabus
- 1. Phenomena of city in the present Czech prose (Czech prose after 1989, autenticitivy x imaginative prose, postmodern literature). Poetics of space in the Tartu school theory.
- 2. Poetics of space in the Tartu school theory (finalization) and Daniela Hodrová. M. M. Bachtin’s theory of chronotope.
- 3. Lyrical city in Josef Straka‘s and Bogdan Trojak’s nouvelles (Hotel Bristol, Město Mons, Brněnské metro).
- 4. Authentic city in Pavel Brycz’s and Jaroslav Rudiš‘s nouvelles (Jsem město. Mé ztracené město, Nebe pod Berlínem).
